ø ABBA & ME ø
ABBA, the biggest group in the 1970s' ! Possibly one of the most loved groups the world over. Definitely - my favorite !
I think I've loved ABBA for as long as I can remember, and if someone were to ask me why, I'd really not know what to say. I liked the idea of two couples working together. Second, it was really a great blend of talent in terms of singers / composers. I dont recall ever liking one member more than the other.
'Dancing Queen' is an all time classic. Even some of my friends who are die-hard rock music fans...the ones that say there is nothing better than rock....these people love abba's most famous song...hhmmm...funny i should put it that way - "most famous song".
True, there are plenty of fabulous dance numbers (from groups other than ABBA). But 'dancing queen' is the tops and those of you who havent checked out the spanish version of the song by abba, please do. Its called 'reina danzante' and i love it more than the english version...even though i dont understand spanish at all.
There are a few songs which i feel could have been done better, for instance - 'andante andante'. somehow, the part that agnetha and frida sang thats just before the solo guitar seems a bit off note. Not meant to be from a group of their standing.
Benny and Bjorn definitely wrote some great songs, i dont mean the chart topping ones. I mean the ones that every abba fan would probably rate as toppers too. I'm talking about 'like an angel pasing through my room', 'when all is said and done', 'i let the music speak', 'i have a dream', many more.
The lines from the song 'I have a dream'...
"i have a dream,
a fantasy
to help me through - reality.
and my destination,
makes it worth the while.
pushing through the darkness...
still another mile"
Thats life for you, in a few, simple words.
A 'human' friendship....thats what you would hear of in 'The way old friends do'. I could quote the whole song, but then i already have done that on one of the wallpapers i made...so i wont repeat it here.
All in all, ABBA was a great group. if i got a chance to see them, would i jump to it. Oh yeah ! God knows I've actually dreamt of it a dozen times !
By now, I think most people are aware of ABBA's history, two couples from Sweden, biggest record-sellers of the '70s, The Beatles equivalent of the '70s, creators of Eurodisco....DANCING QUEEN ( how can anyone not love that song ), ended in divorce..., never returned to record music as a group after 1982.... So, I decided to present their history in a different style...thats in the section 'Lyrical History', have a look. The 'Gallery' has a few picturesof the group and the 'Wallpaper'section contains wallpapers that I created. Feel free to download them. I'll try to regularly put new ones.
